Extended Learning Students FAQ

Q&A

Question
What is a Mountaineer Card for Extended Learning Students?

Answer
Many students taking Extended Learning classes may not have the opportunity to visit the Morgantown campus so a Non-photo Mountaineer Card was developed for these students.

Question
What do I need to obtain a Non-photo Mountaineer Card?

Answer
You need to be registered for classes for the current academic term.

Question
How do I obtain a Non-photo Mountaineer Card?

Answer
You may request an ID by sending an email to wvucard@mail.wvu.edu that includes (first, middle, last) and month/day/year of birth. Mountaineer Card Services will verify your eligibility and generate a Non-photo Mountaineer Card. The ID would be mailed to your STAR/Banner address.

Question
Who may obtain a Non-photo Mountaineer Card?

Answer
This ID card is issued to students taking off-campus or web courses and who will not be in Morgantown to stop in for a photo ID. Students with a photo ID will not be issued an additional card if they are taking Extended Learning classes.

Question
What does the Non-photo Mountaineer Card do?

Answer
This ID should allow students to partake in local discounts.

If a student discovers that he/she will be spending time in Morgantown and would like to participate in the on-campus activities (such as the Student Recreation Center, Athletic events, Computer Labs, and WELLWVU services), he/she may contact the Office of Student Accounts and be assessed the optional on-campus fee.
